Portugal’s Barroso Agro-sylvo-pastoral System awarded GIAHS site<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems awarded Barroso Agro-sylvo-pastoral System as a new GIAHS site. It is Portugal\u2019s 1st certificate with the being classified as a GIAHS site. The\u00a0process was developed by ADRAT (Development Association of Alto T\u00e2mega Region) with the support of the Portuguese Ministry of Agriculture, both Municipalities inserted in the Barroso Region, universities and other agricultural local associations.
\nThe GIAHS certification process is promoted by FAO and intends to certify, around the world, traditional agriculture systems, for its outstanding landscapes of aesthetic beauty that combine agricultural biodiversity, resilient ecosystems and a valuable cultural heritage.<\/p>\n
