ERIAFF Food System
Welcome to the Food System working group!
Description of the aims and goals of WG’s activities
The Food Systems Working Group has been active since 2021 and currently brings together nearly 30 member regions, fostering a dynamic platform for collaboration across Europe. Its primary aim is to strengthen regional cooperation and actively contribute to shaping policies that support the transition towards more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive food systems.
The group operates through close engagement with regional administrations, as well as participation in EU-level research and innovation initiatives, including partnerships such as FutureFoodS and Smart Specialisation (S3) thematic platforms. By connecting policymakers, researchers, and other regional stakeholders, the Working Group promotes knowledge exchange, mutual learning, and the development of joint initiatives.
Through these activities, it enhances policy alignment, encourages innovation, and reinforces the role of regions as key actors in advancing Europe’s sustainable food system transition.
